Ghislaine Maxwell gives first interview since going to prison, says she feels sorry for Prince Andrew

Convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell sat down this week for her first interview since being locked up for trafficking minors to her former associate, Jeffrey Epstein.

Speaking from her prison cell to Daphne Barak, a filmmaker creating an upcoming documentary for Paramount Plus, Maxwell discussed her previous relationships with several prominent figures who have been named in the cases involving Epstein and his wealthy circle of associates.

The Sun reported that during the interview, Maxwell was “shaken” when she was told Prince Andrew’s attorneys had denied a friendship between the two.

“I accept that this friendship could not survive my conviction,” Maxwell said about the Prince. “He is paying such a price for the association. I consider him a dear friend. I care about him.”

Prince Andrew is currently eighth in line for the British throne following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II a few weeks ago.

The prince has been implicated in the case of Virginia Guiffre, who accused Maxwell of trafficking her to Epstein for sex. Prince Andrew appeared in a photo that circulated that pictured him with his arm around Giuffre’s waist. 

“I feel so bad for him. I follow what is happening to him,” Maxwell said. She then seemed to deny the authenticity of the photo, claiming it is a fake in spite of previously admitting it was real. “I have come to discover that image I don’t believe is true,” Maxwell said. “And the original has never been produced because it doesn’t exist. I don’t believe that image is a true image.”

In the interview, Maxwell also admitted her regret over her association with Epstein. “I said in my court statement that meeting Epstein was the greatest mistake of my life,” she said.
