Teenage thief tries running through glass after robbing Louis Vuitton store, accidentally knocks himself out
A 17-year-old thief in Washington inadvertently knocked himself out while fleeing a Louis Vuitton store following a robbery. The incident took place in August.
The thief was reportedly carrying approximately $18,000 worth of Louis Vuitton handbags as he is seen on video colliding with a glass plate window. Two female accomplices fled the scene.
Security guards detained the young thief, who was described being groggy but breathing when police arrived at the scene, according to Bellevue Police Department Public Information Officer, Meeghan Black. The suspect was then arrested and later released to a family member at the hospital, Black said.
Prosecutors said that due to the thief being a juvenile and also part of a theft ring, his name has not been disclosed, Fox News reported.
Black confirmed that retail stores, especially high-end ones, have been a target for crime.
“Bellevue is a suburb of Seattle, a fairly wealthy suburb with high-end shops and access to the freeway, so it makes us an easy target,” she said, according to the Daily Mail. “The police department in partnership with loss prevention of these stores have teamed up for higher visibility and undercover operations inside the stores to target these prolific thieves.”
She added, “We have had significant success.”
“It’s just not OK, it isn’t. Something needs to be done,” said Penny Pahl, a local business owner. “We put our blood and sweat into our businesses and for someone to just be so brazen to walk into our business and take what we work our whole life for? It is taking away our livelihood.”
