Kari Lake refuses to concede to Katie Hobbs in Arizona’s gubernatorial race

Republican Kari Lake recently said in a video to her supporters that she’s “still in this fight” and indicated that she will contest the results of her loss to Democrat Katie Hobbs.
The Associated Press called the race for Hobbs on Monday night, reporting on Thursday that Hobbs was leading by 17,000 voters.
Lake shared a video on Thursday in which she cited issues with printers and tabulation machines as evidence that she had been cheated.
“For two years I have been sounding the alarm about our election system in Arizona. And this past week has confirmed everything we’ve been saying,” Lake said, according to The Mercury News. “Our election officials failed us miserably. What happened to Arizonans on election day is unforgivable.”
In Maricopa county, over 20 percent of ballot printers experienced problems, causing 17,000 ballots to not be scanned. Those ballots were then transferred to the county’s election headquarters, where they were entered into new machines.
Lake said she would be planning a legal response to contest the election results, saying: “Rest assured I have assembled the best and brightest legal team, and we are exploring every avenue to correct the many wrongs that have been done this past week.”
She added, “I’m doing everything in my power to right these wrongs.”
As of writing, Hobbs has not commented on Lake’s possible legal challenge and instead has said she is focused on her transition into the governorship.
“Governor-elect Katie Hobbs is laser-focused on her transition, building a team that is ready to hit the ground running on Day One. Arizonans made their voices heard on November 8th, and we respect the will of the voters,” Hobbs’ campaign manager Nicole Demont told Axios.
