Elon Musk says he’ll make an ‘alternative phone’ if Google and Apple ban Twitter from app stores
Twitter owner Elon Musk has threatened to develop his own phone should Google and Apple ban Twitter. Musk did say that this would be a last resort but refused to rule it out.
Liz Wheeler wrote, “If Apple & Google boot Twitter from their app stores, @elonmusk should produce his own smartphone. Half the country would happily ditch the biased, snooping iPhone & Android. The man builds rockets to Mars, a silly little smartphone should be easy, right?”
Musk replied by saying “I certainly hope it does not come to that, but, yes, if there is no other choice, I will make an alternative phone.”
Musk did not reveal what his new phone would look like.
Musk opined on Twitter recently that “smartwatches & phones are yesterday’s technology,”
In the past, many have attempted to created similar alternative phones, but few succeed.
Microsoft previously developed their own phone called “The Windows Phone.” The phone was available for 10 years before being discontinued in 2020.
Amazon also released their own phone, “The Amazon Fire Phone.” This was discontinued in 2015.
