Lara Trump leaves Fox News position after father-in-law Donald Trump announces bid for 2024

Lara Trump, who is married to Eric Trump and is the daughter-in-law of former President Donald Trump, has left her position as a Fox News contributor.

A source close to the situation told The Washington Post that the decision was likely due to her association with Donald Trump – who recently announced he will run for president in 2024. The source said that the network holds a ban on political activity.

The Washington Post noted that Lara Trump is not the first to leave for such a reason. Sarah Sanders and Ben Carson were both previously Fox contributors but left after announcing they were running for political office.

Fox News has said in the past that it “does not condone any talent participating in campaign events.”

A Fox Spokesperson also confirmed that Lara Trump had not been banned from the network and was still permitted to appear on their shows on a voluntary capacity.

Fox News issued a statement thanking Lara Trump for her contribution to the network.

“We appreciate Lara’s valuable contributions across Fox News Media programming,” a Fox spokesperson said in a statement to a number of media outlets over the weekend.
