New poll shows Americans’ opinions on abortion, gun control changing slightly
A new poll released by University of Massachusetts Amherst showed Americans’ opinions are changing slightly on the issues of abortion and gun control, with more people supporting abortion restrictions as well as gun control measures.
When asked about gun control, respondents indicated a visible shift toward implementing some common sense measures that would curb gun violence in the U.S.
This number was 38% in October, and rose to 41% in January, with more people strongly supported changes like banning the sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
The poll also showed strong ongoing support of increased background checks, with 82 percent of respondents saying they agreed with universal background checks.
Last week, Illinois became the ninth state in the country to ban the sale of military style weapons, but a federal ban is unlikely to be passed in the foreseeable future with Republicans taking over the House of Representatives earlier this month.
In 2022, support for legalizing abortion was high after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade in June, but the new poll from UMass Amherst indicates a change in popular opinion.
The dip in people supporting a federal law legalizing abortion (from 47 percent in October to 42 percent in January) was paralleled by more responding that they would support a federal law making abortion illegal went up (from 14 percent in October to 20 percent in January).
A Pew Research poll conducted immediately after the SCOTUS decision in June reported, “62% of U.S. adults said the practice should be legal in all or most cases, while 36% said it should be illegal in all or most cases. Another survey showed that relatively few Americans take an absolutist view on the issue.”

If people worked to undo the destruction of morals, which the “Left” works hard to destroy, abortions would disappear except for legitimate reasons and violence would tend to go away. And remember, the focus on guns is designed to disarm the population so it be enslaved, not to reduce violence.
