Former Manson Family member dies at 73
Linda Kasabian, who is a former member of the Manson Family, has died at the age of 73. Her death was announced in the Tacoma News Tribune.
Kasabian testified at the trial for the prosecutors and was given immunity from prosecution. Kasabian has kept a low-profile since the trial and also changed her name to “Chiochios” to protect her identity.
Kasabian was 20 when she had the role of lookout during the Tate murders. Sharon Tate was 8-months pregnant when she was killed by The Manson Family in her rented Los Angeles home in 1969.
She was also present when Manson himself and other cult members killed Leno and Rosemary LaBianca.
Kasabian did not take part in the murders herself.
Kasabian did open up during the trial about her mindset when she joined the family.
“We always wanted to do anything and everything for him.” She began joining family members on their “creepy crawls.” The creepy crawls refer to the family breaking into residences in Los Angeles.
In 2009, Vincent Bugliosi, who was the lead prosecutor in the case against Manson, said, “If there ever was a star witness for the prosecution, it was Linda Kasabian. Without her testimony … it would have been extremely difficult for me to convict Manson and his co-defendants.”
Manson family member Susan Atkins whispered to Kasabian “You’re killing us” several times during the trial.
Manson also interrupted Kasabian’s testimony by holding up a Los Angeles Times headline which read “Manson Guilty, Nixon Declares.”
Leicester rock band Kasabian named their band after Linda Kasabian.
