Conservatives react strongly to Bud Light’s partnership with trans influencer

A wave of conservative backlash has taken over social media this week after Bud Light sent trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney a personalized beer can with her face on it to commemorate the one year mark since her transition.

This past Sunday, Mulvaney posted a video to her social media showing herself with some cans of Bud Light and promoting the company’s March Madness contest. The reaction to the partnership between Bud Light and Mulvaney has prompted outcry from conservatives across the country, who have taken to social media to express their displeasure.

Conservative personality Kid Rock posted a video of himself shooting several cans of Bud Light with an assault rifle. He then turns to the camera and shouts, “F*** Bud Light and f*** Anheuser-Busch!” Rock is one of the more notable people to have spoken out about the decision for Bud Light to express its support of the LGBTQ+ community, but he has been joined by many who agree with his sentiment.

Videos of people pouring Bud Light into toilets and sinks spread across social media platforms, joined by conservative personalities airing their own grievances over the move by Bud Light. Ultra conservative author and Republican strategist Monica Matthews wrote on Twitter, “Dear red blooded American biological men- are you okay drinking from a beer can with a disembodied man mocking the struggles and achievements of biological females? @budlight #boycottbud”.

Many others have also called for a Republican boycott of Bud Light and have urged others to switch to Coors Light. However, Coors also has a long tradition of supporting the LGBTQ+ community, having reportedly placed ads in LGBTQ+ publications since the 1980’s.

A spokesperson for Anheuser-Busch released a statement in response to the backlash, saying, “Anheuser-Busch works with hundreds of influencers across our brands as one of many ways to authentically connect with audiences across various demographics and passion points. The statement continued, “From time to time, we produce unique commemorative cans for fans and for brand influencers, like Dylan Mulvaney. This commemorative can was a gift to celebrate a personal milestone and is not for sale to the general public.”

Dylan Mulvaney is a male pretending to be a female and dealing with mental illness. Use the proper pronouns and don’t promote this mental illness.
