Rand Paul refers Anthony Fauci for criminal prosecution
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has referred Anthony S. Fauci, M.D. for criminal prosecution for lying to Congress about gain-of-function research.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) last night filed a criminal referral against Anthony S. Fauci, M.D. He says Fauci should face prosecution for lying to Congress about gain-of-function research on SARS-CoV-2 and his funding of same.
Rand Paul accuses Anthony Fauci
Rand Paul gave an interview on Saturday describing an email that contradicts testimony Fauci gave under oath that he never funded gain-of-function research into SARS-CoV-2 (coronavirus).
The Vigilant Fox released a transcript of the interview. According to it, Paul describes an email from Fauci, summarizing a conversation he had on Februar 1, 2020. This email speaks of “suspicions” that the coronavirus bore the hallmarks of genetic manipulation. Those who voiced those suspicions also spoke of “knowing” that the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) was doing gain-of-function research. According to Paul, Fauci admits in the email that gain-of-function research was going on. Paul also said he had further evidence, in the form of a paper describing the research – and bearing a National Institutes of Health grant number.
“So he’s dead to rights having lied to Congress,” Rand Paul said. “It’s a felony to lie to Congress, and he should be prosecuted.”
Later, according to The Washington Examiner, Paul shared a quote of another post on Platform X, embedding the email.
Comparisons to “The Reverend” Jim Jones, who famously ordered 900 members of the commune he founded in Guyana to commit suicide, were rife.
And to Josef Mengele, M.D., chief medical officer at Konzentrationlag Auschwitz:
So were quotes of Dr. Fauci apparently perjuring himself at the green table.
Nor is this the first time Rand Paul and Anthony Fauci have quarreled in public – and in official settings.
What is gain-of-function research?
In gain-of-function research, investigators actually try to modify a virus to infect more easily, cause more serious illness, or both.
In mid-June, Michael Shellenberger released a thread on the former Twitter (now X) offering proof that coronavirus came from WIV.
