Trump to skip second debate – and address union members instead
President Donald Trump will not attend the second Presidential primary debate, and instead will address 500 union members and retirees.

President Donald J. Trump, once again, will not attend the second Presidential Primary Debate, now scheduled for September 27. Instead he will address a gathering of 500 current and former members of the UAW and other unions.
Trump – change of plan
President Trump made the announcement late yesterday evening, according to The Gateway Pundit. That organ sourced its story from The New York Times and NBC News.
Trump, of course, skipped the first debate, held on August 23. Instead he granted an interview to Tucker Carlson, which Carlson posted to his account on X.
That episode drew 265.8 million views. Elon Musk observed that this was more than the entire population (adults and children) of the United States.
Former Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) threatened to “follow Trump around the country” if he didn’t show up for the debate. Those are tall words, considering that he might not even “make the cut” for the debate himself.
Supporters of Trump, including Stephen Turley, Ph.D., have said often they regard the debates as a waste of Trump’s time.
The electric vehicle issue
But his decision to address 500 current and retired organized laborers has shocked everyone. Tellingly, he is doing this after the UAW called a strike against all the historic Big Three automakers. The strike is over pay (including pensions), and the feared destruction of the American automotive industry and the proposed electrification of the American small-vehicle fleet – with cars built, not in the USA, but in China. Yesterday Trump addressed that issue directly.
The United Autoworkers are being sold down the “drain” with this all Electric Car SCAM. They’ll be made in China, under Crooked Joe’s CHINA FIRST POLICY. AUTOWORKERS, VOTE FOR TRUMP – I’LL MAKE YOU VICTORIOUS & RICH. IF YOUR “LEADERS” WON’T ENDORSE ME, VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE, NOW. WITH THE DEMOCRATS & CROOKED JOE CALLING THE SHOTS, YOU’LL BE JOBLESS & PENNILESS WITHIN 4 YEARS. REMEMBER, BIDEN IS A CROOK WHO HAS BEEN PAID MILLIONS OF DOLLARS BY CHINA, & OTHERS. He is a Manchurian Candidate!!!
Three days ago The Epoch Times addressed the issue as well.
Electric vehicles may hit a wall as the market heavily depends on China, and energy-hungry U.S. cities limit how people can recharge their batteries.
Tesla, the only “pure EV player” in the world today, has a large factory in Shanghai, China, but also has factories near Berlin and Austin, Texas. But Tesla’s workers are not organized.
The crowd which Trump intends to address includes current and former plumbers, pipefitters and electricians, as well as autoworkers. What makes this a bold stroke is that Shawn Fain, head of the UAW, once suggested a second Trump term would be “a disaster.” Any other Republican candidate would probably not consider addressing “union workers” after a labor leader made a statement like that. But Trump expressed sympathy for the autoworkers even before the strike, on the same issue: electric vehicles. This would be a confirmation of his position, and a direct outreach unheard-of fifty years ago.
