Trump wows crowds in Iowa, gets big endorsement

Former President Donald J. Trump spoke to a capacity crowd in Sioux City, Iowa today. He outlined, to rousing approval, several big promises for a second Trump administration. The former President also picked up a major endorsement from neurologist Ben Carson, M.D. and 100 “faith leaders.”

Trump rouses them in Iowa

Trump arrived in Sioux City, Iowa, at 2:15 p.m. CDT.

At about seven minutes to the hour, Ben Carson took the stage, to give Trump his unqualified endorsement, and to introduce him. Roughly at 3:00 p.m. CDT, Trump took the stage and began to speak.

At about the same time, this post appeared on Carson’s X account, with his endorsement of Trump.

The former President also mentioned having the endorsement of “over 100 faith leaders.”

Trump lost no time coming to the attack.

He attacked the Joe Biden administration on the grounds of the shambles at the U.S.-Mexican border, the economy, the bad state of American schools, unconstitutional acts, and the Fourth Arab-Israeli War. With regard to that last, he described himself as “the only President in 72 years who didn’t start a war.”

He also mentioned that for four years of his administration, America and Israel were safe.

Then he made two important promises. First, a “Truth and Reconciliation Commission” to investigate official corruption, venal and ideological, in Washington, D.C.

And second, that his administration would allow conventionally fueled automobiles – but would not allow surgical mutilation (or, presumably, hormonal poisoning) of children with a view to changing their gender.

How other candidates are faring

The Florida Republican Assembly (not part of the Florida legislature or either house of it) passed a resolution disapproving of the continuing campaign of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.). They cite his promise to governor for the full four years of his current term. They also cite several issues that, they say, require a governor’s full attention.

Ambassador Nikki Haley now has a better chance of winning the nomination than DeSantis has, according to Anthony Scott at The Gateway Pundit. He in turn quoted Election Betting Odds for his figurers. Trump, of course, is the overwhelming odds-on favorite.
