The Cavalry Has Arrived With President Trump in the War for Reliable Energy
President Trump has arrived like a cavalry commander to win a war for reliable energy against highly dubious environmentalism.
President Donald J. Trump’s swearing in this week was like the horn of a cavalry charge backing up the soldiers fighting on the front line for sanity. On day one, President Trump prioritized actions to undo some of the many harmful, radical policies (250+ actions) from the Biden Administration and set America on a course toward energy independence. His executive orders will grow U.S. fossil fuel production by incentivizing new investments and unleashing new areas of production, which will lead to more energy, cheaper costs, and a more secure nation.
National energy emergency
But to those paying close attention, you could see hope was on the horizon. The last year has seen the turning of the tide against ‘woke’ energy agendas, DEI mandates, and unrealistic environmental policies in America and across the globe. Radical, anti-energy policies like ESG are finally being revealed to be the scam that they are, from major U.S. investment banks withdrawing from global ‘climate’ organizations to a federal judge ruling that ESG is a violation of fiduciary responsibility. Simply put, they don’t work, they’re based on fantasy ideals and leave hard working Americans worse off.
In one week and with the stroke of a pen, President Trump declared a “national energy emergency,” lifted Biden’s ban on liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports, paused offshore wind leasing, rolled back EV mandates, reeled in Green New Deal spending and more. Additionally, he spoke at the World Economic Forum this week to let world leaders know that there is a ‘new sheriff in town’ and that his administration would reject their globalist, leftist mandates in favor of policies that put America first.
Repeating a reliable energy renaissance
During his first term, President Trump led a reliable energy renaissance, and he’s teeing up to do it again. It was under Trump’s leadership that America saw the largest historical discovery of oil and gas, became a net exporter for the first time in 67 years, and surpassed Saudi Arbia and Russia to be world’s largest producer of oil and gas. This gave our nation affordable energy, thousands of new jobs, economic growth, and national security. Our country achieved this by simply empowering, instead of attacking, domestic oil and gas producers.
For Texas, this means everything. As the nation’s largest producer of oil and gas, Texas is the backbone of the nation’s reliable energy source. If the Lone Star State were its own country, we would be the world’s third largest producer of gas and fourth largest producer of oil. The industry is vital to our economic success bringing in billions of dollars to benefit the State and supports about 40% of the overall economy. Texas also represents about one-third of the nation’s LNG exports. With growing global demand for LNG, Texas catapulted America to be the world’s top LNG exporter.
One battle in a greater war
As bright as the day seems with Trump’s cavalry charge, it is important to remember that this is just one battle, and the greater war is still being fought. American has 227 years of recoverable oil and gas reserves, or “liquid gold” as President Trump proudly says, and we should use every molecule to the benefit of our nation. But radical environmentalists and globalist elites won’t quit and will continue to push the unfounded ‘Net Zero’ agenda to end fossil fuels.
The past four years under the Biden Administration brought an obsessive focus on achieving the unrealist goal of ‘zero carbon,’ which has significantly disrupted energy costs, grid reliability, and national security in countries across the world. By prioritizing rapid decarbonization and a forceful transition to wind and solar-based energies, these radical movements have led to the unnecessary decommissioning of reliable energy sources, such as coal and natural gas plants, which are critical to meeting base-load energy demands. Texas experienced this very issue during Winter Storm Uri when wind and solar failed the Texas grid. This shift has made energy grids more vulnerable to blackouts and price volatility, especially during extreme weather events when energy sources like wind and solar fail to perform. Additionally, reduced domestic fossil fuel production has increased reliance on imported energy, exposing areas like Europe to geopolitical risks and price fluctuations in global markets.
Toward the future
As we navigate the future of American energy, it is critical to remember the successes of the past—especially during the Trump Administration. By embracing policies that grow oil and gas production, we can create a robust economy that creates American jobs while ensuring energy security. It is time to reclaim our energy independence and reject agendas, like Net Zero, that threaten to undermine it.
I applaud President Trump for his aggressive actions this week prioritizing reliable energy for Americas and look forward to more of his policy wins in the future. While President Trump is much need backup for sensible energy and environmental policies, the war for reliable energy against Net Zero will rage on, so fight on we must.
