No more dead cops
As a former member of the NYPD, I stood on the frontline of the Harlem and Columbia riots, worked the Eastside of Manhattan back in ‘72 on the night Officers Foster and Laurie were assassinated – just for being Cops – and patrolled the mean streets of the South Bronx when it was ‘officially burning’.
Cops no longer feel their bosses have their backs
Back then we worked during a time of great hostility and danger to Police Officers, but we came to work and did our job each day knowing that our politicians, mayors and bosses had our backs. And so today, with an insight that few can draw from, I watched the reports of these ‘coordinated uprisings’ coming out of Ferguson, Missouri, and Staten Island, New York, with the experienced eye of a law enforcement insider.
But, it is not necessary for you to have been a Cop to have a good understanding of what ‘Is-Really-Going-On’ with these knowledge-sharing articles here at CFP (See related); such as the recent one that gave explicit details of how these protests were in no way grassroots oriented. In fact they were agitated by the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA, (revcom.us)

In New York, Mayor de Blasio and Police Commissioner Bratton were quoted as saying that the Police Officers were being ‘disrespectful’ to their fallen brothers when they turned their backs on the mayor as he eulogized Officers Ramos and Liu, the most recent members of the NYPD to be assassinated – for just being Cops. When ironically there were over 30,000 Police Officers, who came from all over the country to attend each of their funerals specifically ‘out of professional respect’ for their fellow Police Officers; each one saying the same silent prayer, “There, but for the Grace of God, goes me.” And, anyone with knowledge of de Blasio’s leftist background and ideology will agree that as Aldous Huxley once said, “Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.” We can no longer ignore the fact that disrespect for Cops is one of the main ingredients in Mayor Bill de Blasio’s DNA.
Cops need more than an apology now
[ezadsense midpost]
Last week, as a work-slow-down continued and politically charged meetings were held with the mayor, police commissioner and the police unions, I agreed with PBA President Pat Lynch that Mayor de Blasio should, at a minimum, begin the healing process between himself and the now battered members of the NYPD, with a sincere apology; firstly, to the Police Officers in New York City, and then to every cop who ever wore the uniform – Nationwide.
Our elected officials can not be allowed to arrogantly ‘diss’ the Police Officers in their charge, to dehumanize them with impunity, as this mayor has done by aligning himself with radical agitators such as Al Sharpton, as he and other activists organized ‘peaceful protests’ of those who disagreed with a grand jury ruling and were openly allowed to chant how they wanted – DEAD COPS – NOW! – under the guise of free speech. Needless to say, this would have been handled differently back in the day when we were – On the Job.
Then, as if wanting to pour salt into an open wound, de Blasio began boasting at this extremely volatile and divisive time in both New York and our Nation’s history, how he had warned his biracial-afro-hair-styled son to be ‘especially careful’ and that he might find himself in ‘grave danger’ when dealing with potentially racist police officers. And, I agreed that this deceitful character assassination of the NYPD must stop, and that the mayor’s apology, if at all possible, was required now to begin the healing process.
That was until we woke the other morning with the continued tragic news that two more of New York’s Finest had been shot by street-thugs, in an apparent ambush-style shooting as they approached a restaurant to investigate a robbery. All across the City, criminals with a thirst for dead cops are out in force, having been emboldened by this mayor with his disdain and lack of respect for Police Officers. We are now left with only one important question, which also becomes the most obvious one: Just how much responsibility does this hypocritical mayor bear for the targets he has recklessly painted on the backs of all members of the NYPD?
Unfortunately we now find ourselves past the time where any corrective actions can begin with an apology from this wrongheaded mayor, and are left with only one prospect for any valid healing process to begin in the City of New York; that is, with the immediate resignation and replacement of Bill de Blasio as mayor. No More Dead Cops! The work slow-down continues. Peace in the City can only begin when de Blasio is gone from City Hall.
