From time to time, something pops up in the news involving the subject of “accountability.”

Accountability should work both ways

For example, Prime Minister Netanyahu is worried that the United Nations or the International Criminal Court will hold Israel accountable for war crimes in Operation Protective Edge against Hamas terrorists. Never mind that Israel’s military actions were matters of self-defense, and that Hamas deliberately placed civilians in harm’s way to deter the Israel Defense Forces.

Neither the UN nor the ICC has ever held Hamas guilty of war crimes despite its missile attacks on Israel’s civilian population.

The UN’s hypocrisy and double standards are of course outrageous. It needs to be specifically emphasized, however, that the conduct of the UN represents:

1. A denial that Arabs terrorists can be held accountable for any crimes they commit against Israel’s civilian population, and
2. A denial that Israel has a right to defend itself.

Israeli Prime Ministers are well aware of this situation, and have repeatedly denounced its flagrant injustice. But what about the flagrant injustice committed by Israeli Prime Ministers that have released Arab terrorists before the expiration of their prison sentences  – terrorists that have murdered Jews either before being captured and incarcerated, or after being released from prison?

Aren’t these Prime Ministers culpable? Shouldn’t they have been ostracized or relegated to the political wilderness?

Let Israel withdraw from the UN

Since the UN applies no ethical standards in dealing with Arab terrorists, but has no reservations about denouncing Israel despite her being the victim of Arab aggression, then one can only wonder why Israel doesn’t resign from that den of iniquity?

If Israel refrains from resigning because it wants to retain a voice in that anti-Jewish organization, why doesn’t Israel engage in a systematic critique of the UN, and expose, on every public form, the vices of the UN and its pro-Arab Islamic bias?

Why doesn’t Israel go on the offensive and expose, on every public forum, how the UN, far from promoting peace, promotes war, and is even engaged in a sub rosa alliance with state-sponsored terrorism?

Why does Israel perform the role of the victim – a poor little thing content to play a passive role in international politics and diplomacy?

Isn’t Mr. Netanyahu a great orator? Isn’t he admired in the United States? And aren’t there several organizations in America that abhor the UN and would like to leave that cesspool?

The UN won’t stay accountable to its own rules

Consider: There are 56 Islamic states in the UN. Not one of them is a bona fide democracy. All treat women as chattel and thus violate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. For example:

Article 1: “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.”

Article 3: “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.”

Article 30: “Nothing in this Declaration may be interpreted as implying for any State, group or person any right to engage in any activity or to perform any act aimed at the destruction of any of the rights and freedoms set forth herein.”

Why not co-operate with Egypt?

Perhaps Israel’s Prime Minister should first quietly sound out Egyptian President Abdel Fatah el-Sisi, who wants to start a religious revolution in Islam. He has urged moderate Muslims around the world to “stand up” against terrorists hijacking their religion. El-Sisi has warned “that terrorism is now a major threat not only to Egypt or even the immediate region, but it is a threat to the stability and security of the whole world.”

Bibi should quietly arrange for an el-Sisi visit to Jerusalem. He should offer Egypt a “treaty of friendship” understood primarily as a diplomatic alliance against the Muslim Brotherhood and ISIS! For this purpose, Israel and Egypt, together with India, should consider the feasibility of joint military cooperation.

Bibi certainly wants to diminish Israel’s dependency on the United States, whose future has become dubious as a result of

1. The pernicious influence of the Obama Administration;
2. The leftist turn of the Democratic Party;
3. The swelling membership of that party resulting from America’s changing demographic character; and
4. The multiculturalism and left-wing orientation of the U.S. Supreme Court.

The supremacy of White Anglo-Saxon Protestant America is history. If anything can prevent the global ramifications this decline it’s Israel.☼
