Seattle police fatally shoot robbery suspect who stabbed police dog, injured an officer
Seattle police on Wednesday shot a robbery suspect who stabbed and killed a police dog and injured an officer during a struggle as the suspect fled on foot.
Seattle police report officers responded to a 911 call around 2:45PM. The caller alleged a suspect was attempting to break and enter their home and was armed with a knife.
When officers arrived, the suspect attempted to run from them, and officers engaged in pursuit. At one point, Jedi, a police dog, caught up to the suspect, who then fatally stabbed the canine. An officer was also injured in the struggle.
Police body cam video, released by Seattle Police Department on January 7, shows officers making physical contact with the robbery suspect, who was armed with both a knife and a machete. The suspect then stabs the dog to death before being shot by an officer. The suspect did not survive.
Officer Tim Jones, who shot the suspect, has been placed on administrative leave, per SPD policy.
