Ukraine – is Biden trying to start WWIII?
Is Biden trying to gallop America into war in Ukraine, that could turn into World War Three? He said some fighting words last week.
Yesterday, President Joe Biden made a speech in Warsaw, Poland, but clearly was talking to Ukrainians – or at least a segment of them. To ethnic Ukrainians living in Ukraine, he said, “We stand with you.” But he made many other statements, not only Saturday but earlier in the week, that he must now walk back. He had better walk them back – unless he really means to get Americans into World War Three.
Ukraine – what did Biden say?
NBC News carried the speech – but this morning, Fox News carried the walkbacks. Some in the Warsaw crowd recently fled Ukraine, and to them he specifically said,
We stand with you.
But he said many other things, like:
For God’s sake, [Vladimir Putin] cannot remain in power!
And this:
A dictator bent on rebuilding an empire will never be able to erase the people’s love for liberty. Brutality will never grind down the will to be free. Ukraine will never be a victory for Russia, for free people refuse to live in a world of hopelessness, of darkness.
Was anyone in Russia listening? That’s impossible to tell at the moment, given sanctions, blackouts, and whatnot. But Biden actually addressed some remarks to any Russians who might be listening:
Your leader will cut you off from the world and is taking Russia back to the nineteenth century. This is not who you are, this is not the future you deserve for your families and your children. This war is not worthy of you, the Russian people. Putin can, and must, end this war.
Furthermore he called Putin “a butcher.” He added that, if Russia were to attack Poland, the Americans would defend Poland, as the North Atlantic Treaty requires.
The chemical weapons canard
And if that weren’t enough, on Thursday some reporter – we don’t know who – asked what would happen if Russia were to attack Ukraine with chemical weapons. Biden said,
We would respond in kind.
The next day, national security adviser Jake Sullivan had to say Biden didn’t mean it. Perhaps he had to – because the USA signed the Chemical Weapons Convention that forbids their use. The problem is: the USA has by now destroyed ninety percent of its former chemical weapons stockpile. What about the other ten percent? We don’t know.
Fighting words
Mr. President, those are fighting words. A President shouldn’t use them unless he means them. And it particularly ill befits a President even to hint at breaking a treaty like the Chemical Weapons Convention.
It also ill befits a President to talk so carelessly about getting into a war. Even refugees do not automatically deserve to have other countries fight their wars for them. We don’t even have all the facts on exactly why those people from Ukraine fled their country. We know they’re running out of war zones – but that’s all. Absolutely everyone talking about those refugees, has an agenda. That goes equally for the government of Ukraine as for the Kremlin.
And just Whiskey Tango Foxtrot did Biden mean by saying Putin couldn’t remain in power? Lay aside for the moment his obvious taking of the Name of the Lord in vain. (Though I wonder what Pope Francis would have to say about that.) Biden just talked about regime change in Russia. And of course he had to walk that back.
Here’s the problem. Biden was Vice-President when a previous President got his fingers all over Ukraine, with that very object. That has recently become a matter of record, particularly the conduct of Victoria Nuland, Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs. Yes – that Victoria Nuland, the one who admitted to biological weapons development facilities in Ukraine. With American funding. And American direction. And American staffs!
By the way: Putin did not threaten – but Ukraine did
To reply to a wild rumor now circulating: Vladimir Putin has not threatened a nuclear attack against the United States. He put his nuclear assets on high alert – and that’s all. That’s a warning to others not to think about shooting a nuke at Russia. It is not a threat to shoot a nuke at another country if Putin does not get his way.
On the other hand, Volodymyr Zelensky said some fighting words of his own. Apparently the Nestlé Company – yes, that Nestlé, who Makes The Very Best Chocolate – will not pull out of Russia. So Zelensky threatened not only Nestlé but all the people of Switzerland, its home country, with cybernetic warfare. Zelensky relies on professional hackers – and, according to Creative Destruction Media, many of these have jobs with U.S. intelligence. So already we’re getting phony information from people with an ax to grind. A former instructor of theirs said flatly: these people are loose cannons on the gundeck, and ought never have such sensitive jobs.
Scary political views they wore on their sleeve? No matter, they’d get hired anyway. All of my good assistants went to work for the UN, IAEA, and major NGOs. The dregs went to intelligence.Michael Jasinski, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Political Science, University of Washington-Oshkosh
About cutting Russia off
And last: let’s examine Biden’s words to the Russian people about their leader cutting them off from the rest of the world, and taking their country back to the nineteenth century. Well, Biden cannot mean technologically. Russians happen to be the best undersea naval architects in the world. They build operational submarines that can dive deeper than their counterparts in any other Navy. Try to take out their nuclear capability, and their “boomers” will dive so deep, even the USS Seawolf would get crushed trying to dive to their depth. I’d say that’s enough twenty-first century for them.
But of course Biden was talking about isolation. Well, maybe “isolation” is what Russians would prefer! Russia happens to be making itself into a civilizational state. Which means a state that can do everything itself, live by itself – and protect the values that make a civilization thrive. Considering the kind of act Volodymyr Zelensky used to put on – which is a matter of record – trying to keep out that kind of “value” would be worth any “isolation” Russians would have to endure.
Is Putin trying to rebuild an empire? How does Biden know? Maybe Putin just wants the world to leave Russia alone.
So why did Russia invade Ukraine? Maybe those biological weapons development facilities in Ukraine finally provoked them. Or maybe they had another kind of provocation. Ask yourselves this. Suppose – just suppose – that someone tried to pull a Ukraine Crisis, that was a Cuban Crisis in reverse?
Conclusion
So what do we have? A President throwing around fighting words, half of which his administration has to walk back the day after. And for the sake of an “ally” who threatens neutral countries – in this case Switzerland – with cybernetic attacks. He also attacks a people for wanting their own civilization, and not wanting to give that up for the sake of … what? A Great Reset like a system of which they have seventy years of long and bitter experience.
