TikTok influencer Cooper Noriega found dead aged 19
Cooper Noriega, who was a TikTok influencer with over 1.7 million followers, died on Thursday at the age of 19.
According to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner-office, he was found dead in a Los Angeles mall parking lot on June 9.
Law enforcement sources have said that a passerby called 911 Thursday after discovering Cooper unconscious in a mall parking lot outside Los Angeles. Paramedics arrived on scene shortly thereafter but were unable to revive the young social media star.
TMZ sources say Cooper was not in a vehicle, and there were no signs of trauma on his body. At this time, we’re told there’s no foul play suspected, and an autopsy will be performed.
Noriega tweeted a video of himself lying in bed with the message, “Who else b thinking they gon die young af?” just hours before his death, as reported by Variety.
Noriega had made several videos about his struggles with mental health and addiction. Last Sunday he announced he was starting a group for people to talk about their experiences with mental health on the messaging platform Discord.
He said at the time: “I have just created a Discord server strictly for mental health because how much I love you guys, and how much I struggle with it myself. I want you guys to not be alone and feel safe.”
Other TikTok influencers have spoke out regarding Noriega’s death. Dixie D’Amelio, 20, was visibly emotional as she attempted to make her way through a performance on Friday evening in New York City, Page Six reported.
“A friend of mine lost his life yesterday,” D’Amelio, who has openly shared her own mental health struggles, told the crowd while crying. She went on to encourage those in the audience to “check in” with their friends to make sure they are doing okay.
Noriega’s ex-girlfriend Sabrina “Sab” Quesada shared a post on Instagram in his honor. “The light of my life, you’re the best thing that ever happened to me,” Quesada captioned her post, which featured a series of videos and photos of the two kissing and embracing. “i’m so sorry my love. may we meet again.”
Addison Rae also shared a memory of Noriega, along with a heartfelt message. “One of the most kind and caring people with a contagious smile and laugh,” Rae wrote in her Instagram Story, along with a photo of herself, Noriega and other friends in the reflection of a car window.
Blake Gray posted a smiling photo of Noriega, along with the caption, “Love you man. Always the light of every room you’re in. I know you’re shining bright up there.”
Quinton Griggs, shared a photo of Noriega, and wrote over it “just doesn’t feel real man. It’s against the f***** rules. I love you man.”
