Rep. Lauren Boebert in worship service speech: ‘Church is supposed to direct government’
Speaking at a Sunday event at Cornerstone Christian Center in Colorado, House Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) told an audience she is “tired” of the separation between church and state in the United States, and believes the church should guide the government.
“The church is supposed to direct the government. The government is not supposed to direct the church. That is not how our Founding Fathers intended it. I’m tired of this separation of church and state junk — that’s not in the Constitution. It was in a stinking letter and it means nothing like they say it does,” Boebert said in her speech. The crowd responded with loud cheering and applause.
The letter to which Boebert referred in her speech is an 1802 letter penned by Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury Baptist Association in Connecticut, saying the establishment clause of the US Constitution, which says, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,” had created a “wall of separation between Church and State.”
According to the Washington Post, some experts believe Boebert’s view of the constitutional separation of religion and government is dangerous. Gwen Calais-Haase, a political scientist at Howard University, told the Post Boebert’s comments are “false, misleading and dangerous.”
Cailais-Haase added she is “extremely worried about the environment of misinformation that extremist politicians take advantage of for their own gains.”
Boebert added later in her speech, “The reason we had so many overreaching regulations is because the church complied.” She then repeated, “The church is supposed to direct the government. The government is not supposed to direct the church. That is not how our Founding Fathers intended it.”

Something people need to remember is that 12 of the 13 States have State sanctioned/sponsored Christian Determinations. Amendment 1 prohibits Congress from creating a Federal Church. The “Left” has worked to twist Amendment 1 and others items in the US Constitution to advance their amoral, racial, and destructive ideology. People need to learn the real history and what the “Left” has been doing for more than 150 years. Start with the “Trail of Tears” done by the Democrats.
And she is correct – without morals which the Church and Christianity has promoted for centuries government degrades into dictatorship and depravity. All one has to do is to look at what is happening today in the US with the promotion of sodomy, racism, mental illnesses and depravity.
