Armed man allegedly tries to breach Cincinnati FBI building, shots fired

A man armed with an AR-15-style rifle tried to breach a Cincinnati FBI building on Wednesday, leading to a shots fired and a standoff with law enforcement.

The man, who has not been identified, fired a nail gun at FBI agents who were responding to an alarm at the building. He then brandished the rifle before fleeing in a vehicle north onto Interstate 71.

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers pursued the man into Clinton County, where he was eventually apprehended after a short standoff. No injuries were reported.

The incident is currently under investigation by the FBI and Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The suspect, who has not been identified, was shot and injured during the incident. It’s unclear if he was hit by gunfire from police or if he sustained any other injuries.

No officers were injured during the exchange of gunfire.

The suspect is in custody and being treated at a local hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.

“For that reason, we take any incidence of violence or threats of violence directed against our justice system and the rule of law very seriously. We hold out hope for a peaceful resolution to this situation.”
