Trump mocks John Fetterman for ‘always wearing sweatshirts and shorts’
Former President Donald Trump made light of John Fetterman’s fashion sense, by saying that the Pennsylvania Democratic Senate dresses “like a teenager getting high in his parents basement” at his Saturday rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania
“This guy’s a disaster,” Trump said, referring to Fetterman. “He comes in with a sweatsuit on, I’ve never seen him wear a suit. A dirty, dirty, dirty sweatsuit, it’s really disgusting. You know, I’m a clean freak. I’m a clean freak, Oz, I don’t like those dirty sweatsuits, that disgusting.”
“Fetterman may dress like a teenager getting high in his parent’s basement, but he’s a raging lunatic hell bent on springing hardened criminals out of jail in the middle of the worst crime wave in Pennsylvania history,” he continued, appearing to reference Fetterman’s criminal justice positions. “He wants everybody out of jail. And by the way, he wants to get rid of your police.”
Fetterman is known for dressing casually, often wearing sweatsuits rather than formal attire. Fetterman is currently running against Trump’s preferred candidate, Dr. Mehmet Oz, whom he recently endorsed.
Trump went on to say that Fetterman is an advocate of legalizing prohibited substances and is also a user himself.
“Fetterman supports taxpayer funded drug dens and the complete decriminalization of illegal drugs, including heroin, cocaine, crystal meth and ultra-lethal fentanyl,” he said. “And by the way, he takes them himself.”
Fetterman’s campaign spokesperson Joe Calvello released a statement calling Trump’s claims “more and more lies from Trump and Dr Oz.”
“Another day, but it’s the same crap from these two desperate and sad dudes,” he said.
Fetterman has spoken out in favor of marijuana legalization in his current campaign. A fact check did show that Fetterman said in 2015 that he was in favor of decriminalizing all drugs, but not legalizing them. Fetterman has largely focused on marijuana in recent years.
