Republican legal group files lawsuit to get feds to release documents related to Hunter Biden
This week, the pro-Trump legal group America First Legal filed a lawsuit against the federal government to prompt the release of documents related to Hunter and James Biden, sons of President Joe Biden.
The lawsuit, filed in federal court on Thursday, accuses the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) of stalling when it comes to a Freedom of Information Act request filed in August for documents related to Hunter and James Biden.
The AFL filed the request to expedite the release of the documents on August 1, and the request was denied by NARA, who allegedly has not provided an estimate for how long it might take to produce the documents in question.
According to AFL, the request seeks the following: All communications by Vice-President Biden with his son Hunter and his brother James, Official government travel by Hunter and James and their visits to the White House, and Other records further exposing Joe Biden’s involvement in his family’s corrupt foreign business deals.
In its initial FOIA request, AFL argued the amount of public scrutiny in the case warranted the documents’ quick release by NARA.
In a statement, AFL president Stephen Miller accused the National Archives of illegal activity related to the information request, “The National Archives is engaged in an illegal scheme to conceal federal records pertaining to the radical corruption of President Biden, Hunter Biden, and James Biden.”
He continued, “NARA has revealed itself to be an integral part of the treacherous deep state seeking to capsize our Democracy and to impose the will of bureaucrats over the laws and Constitution of the United States.”
