Sen. Ted Cruz appears on ‘The View’, drawing protests
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) made an appearance on “The View” to discuss the economy and GOP policies when protestors in the audience momentarily caused chaos by interrupting him.
Cruz was in the middle of discussing inflation when a group of protestors started loudly chanting what sounded like “Government funding now.”
Both the panel and Cruz seemed largely untroubled by the protest. “The View’s” broadcaster, ABC, appeared to have cut the audio during the protest, so many of the chants from the protestors were inaudible.
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin did address the protestors by saying “We do cover climate here, guys!”
Another co-host Whoopi Goldberg also jumped in and said “Excuse me! Excuse me! Ladies, ladies, excuse us. Let us do our job. Let us do our job. We hear what you have to say, but you gotta go.”
Cruz himself said he “didn’t even hear what they were protesting.” Co-host and lawyer Sunny Hostin told Cruz that the protestors were accusing them of not covering climate issues on the show.
The show went to a commercial break during the protest.
A spokesman for “The View” said “Three members of the audience interrupted ‘The View’ today during Sen. Ted Cruz’s appearance protesting about climate. They were promptly escorted out by security.”
When they went back on-air co-host Ana Navarro told Cruz, “I’ve been very vocal and very critical of you, but I am sorry that this has happened in our house.”
Climate change awareness youth group Sunrise Movement later claimed responsibility for the protest on Twitter.
“We, along with the other groups leading the #OccupyParkAvenue actions, take credit for interrupting demagogue Ted Cruz to call out ABC for having only SIX HOURS of climate coverage during all of 2021.
Cover climate and stop showing deceitful fossil fuel ads NOW.”
