Report: Over 6,000 U.S. children were killed or injured by gunfire in 2022
More than 6,000 children have been killed or injured in the United States by gunfire in 2022, according to the left-leaning nonprofit Gun Violence Archive.
According to the group, this is the highest number of children hurt or killed since the group began recording the shooting incidents nine years ago.
The Gun Violence Archive reported that a total of 6,023 U.S. children ages 17 and under have been killed or hurt by gunfire so far in 2022. This is a significant jump from last year, when the group recorded 5,708 children being killed or hurt from gunfire.
Of the children killed by gunfire, at least 306 were 11 years old or younger. 1,323 were between the ages of 12 and 17.
The Gun Violence Archive began to track shootings in 2014. In their first year, they recorded only 2,859 children 17 years old or younger being killed or injured by gunfire.
The shooting deaths include those from the Uvalde school massacre, in which a teenager shot and killed 19 students and three teachers on May 24 at Robb Elementary School.
The youngest shooting victim was 5-month-old Cecilia Thomas, who died in June after being shot in the head in drive-by shooting in Chicago.

And they are trying to blame the tool and not the person committing the crime. How many children have been killed or harmed with knives and other objects, or physically or killed harmed by things like being beaten. Instead of focusing on the tool focus on the real causes.
