DeSantis campaign: more embarrassing questions
Laura Loomer raised more questions about the DeSantis campaign, including unspecified FEC reports and surreptitious campaigning by staff.
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) faces more embarrassing questions about his Presidential campaign, beyond the dubious transfer of $82.5 million from Empower Parents PAC, formerly known as Friends of Ron DeSantis, to Never Back Down, Inc., the governor’s Presidential campaign arm.
The questions facing DeSantis
Laura Loomer, whom many consider a fixture in Florida politics and journalism, shared this tweet this morning, referencing “FEC reports.”
Which FEC reports are ready to “drop,” Loomer didn’t make clear. But the left-wing site Common Dreams recently released an article detailing a fresh FEC complaint against DeSantis. More specifically, the Campaign Legal Center alleges that ECN Capital, a Canadian financial services firm, has been contributing to DeSantis’ campaigns for governor since 2018.
The new complaint against ECN Capital states that between October 2018 and August 2022, the company breached the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) by donating to DeSantis’ last two gubernatorial campaigns and a state PAC formerly known as Friends of Ron DeSantis.
The article doesn’t specify how much money changed hands. But in theory the $82.5 million transfer mentioned above could include all the monies that ECN Capital contributed.
But Loomer raised more questions. Last Wednesday (June 28) she identified two Twitter accounts, one belonging to Ron DeSantis’ press secretary. She then asserted that these accounts belong to the same person, and accused the second account of active campaigning. That raises a legal question of whether the Governor’s press secretary, under an assumed name, is campaigning on State time. Which, Loomer says, is illegal.
This morning she returned to that theme, after having taken part in a Twitter space in which the second account, “MaxNordau,” also took part. She claims again that voice analysis proves “Max Nordau” and Bryan Griffin to be one and the same.
The kicker, according to Loomer, is that “Max Nordau” and Bryan Griffin refused to appear together in the space.
Follow-up
In this follow-up, Loomer said if the DeSantis team “can’t even manage their ANON Twitter account,” the American people shouldn’t trust the Florida governor with the Nuclear Football.
The evidence of impersonation by a Florida government official, in apparent evasion of Florida’s Hatch-like laws, struck like a thunderclap.
Laura Loomer also shared this Newsweek article saying the DeSantis campaign is “imploding.”
The “homophobia” charge apparently comes from Log Cabin Republicans, known for promoting alternative lifestyles within the Party.
