Garland appoints Weiss special counsel re Hunter Biden

Attorney General Merrick Garland surprised everyone yesterday by appointing David Weiss, United States Attorney for Delaware, as a Special Counsel. His ostensible target: Hunter Biden.

Garland makes Weiss special counsel

According to The Washington Examiner, Garland granted Weiss special counsel status after Weiss apparently asked for it. Weiss questioned whether he had the authority he needed to investigate Hunter Biden as thoroughly as the evidence warrants.

Hunter Biden had been ready to plead guilty to untimely payment of taxes and unlawful possession of a firearm. But the deal went sour after the judge questioned its wisdom while he remained under further investigation. Recently his close business associate, Devon Archer, gave evidence to the House Oversight Committee that the younger Biden is involved in many unsavory business deals. These arise out of his representation of the Biden family as a “brand” of saleable influence over American government.

Platform X exploded with skepticism over the sincerity of the investigation. Perhaps, many say, Garland made the appointment to stop the House of Representatives from investigating. Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), chairman of the Judiciary Committee, and James Comer (R-Ky.), Chairman of House Oversight, have been highly aggressive of late in their pursuit of Hunter Biden.

House Oversight released this lengthy and highly cynical statement:

So did Rep. Comer:

Apparently CBS News Correspondent Catherine Herridge aired her own suspicions of skulduggery:

Earlier this week, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) claimed to have evidence, from Biden familyh bank statements, that suggested that members of the family had received $20 million from “foreign entities.”

Ex-Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.) seemed to agree:

Skating on a subpoena

In fact, Rep. Comer had announced his intention to issue multiple subpoenas to all members of the Biden family.
