Deprogramming – Hillary Clinton suggests that for Trump voters
Former Sen. Hillary R. Clinton (D-N.Y.) has called for deprogramming of voters for Donald Trump, as the FBI investigates them for terrorism.
Former Sen. Hillary R. Clinton (D-N.Y.) last night called for “formal deprogramming” – her words – of voters for Donald J. Trump. She said this after Newsweek’s magazine broke a sensational story about the FBI labeling Trump voters as domestic terrorists.
The deprogramming call
Hillary Clinton made those remarks in an interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour yesterday.
In that interview, she spoke of a “sane part” of the House Republican Conference. She identified them as those who voted with Democrats to pass a Continuing Resolution last Saturday. Clinton went on to accuse the rest of the Conference – or likely their Republican constituents – of intimidation. Then she spoke of defeating “extreme measures, and the people who promote them,” to restore the “common ground” she said existed before Trump.
She then spoke of a “tail wagging the dog” of “extremists” who “take their marching orders from [President Donald] Trump.” This, she suggest, is an unsavory influence that prevents the comity that prevailed before. After saying Trump was “only in it for himself,” she called for “formal deprogramming” of his voters. The reason: they will not break with Trump even in the face of his indictments. A clearly alarmed Amanpour reminded her of a warning she issued two days before: the Republican Party will nominate Trump. Clinton stood by that and called more strongly for his defeat.
Comparisons to her remarks of seven years ago (“basket of deplorables”) are rife at the time of this writing.
So were comparisons to Adolf Hitler:
Not to mention Fidel Castro:
But by far the most scathing indictments of her “deprogramming” remarks came from these two users:
An FBI connection?
In other news that might (or might not) be related, Newsweek Magazine published results of what they said was a three-month investigation of the FBI itself. Their conclusion: the FBI regards Donald Trump’s followers as domestic terrorists, but doesn’t dare say that out loud. But though the FBI won’t say it out loud, President Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland have. Look for a new FBI threat category: Anti-government, Anti-authority Violent Extremism (AGAAVE). The FBI even issued this explicit report.
This report went to then-Democratic-controlled House committees and still-Democratic-controlled Senate committees shortly before Midterms.
According to Blaze, at least one official, speaking on background, wishes Biden would keep his mouth shut.
Biden’s rhetoric on domestic terrorism could goad his opponents into taking more extreme action — particularly those who have lost their faith in elections or believe the system is rigged against them. So we have the president increasing his own inflammatory rhetoric, which leads Donald Trump and the Republicans to do the same, which influences the news media, which influences the rhetoric. The FBI? It’s just in the middle of this mess, probably heading for trouble but mostly left out on a limb by the anger and indifference of the American public.
Does a connection exist between this Newsweek report (or the activities it reports on) and Hillary’s deprogramming remarks? That is something for individual readers to decide.
