The Abortion Memorial, an ironic face of the war on women

A hush fell on the recent vice presidential debate in Denver when moderator Martha Raddatz asked Biden and Ryan their heartfelt views on abortion. Once again, a liberal woman plays the “war on women” card. And how did the candidates answer?

Abortion goes against religion, reason and science

Biden, who doesn’t mind imposing Obamacare on America and hundreds of Obama’s executive orders on everyone from Charlie Brown to law enforcement officials, said he believed in the Catholic Church’s position, but would not impose it on others.

Ryan stated his faith in the Church’s position also. But he added that he also used reason and science to complete or inform his views. Here is a case of a full orbed personality, balanced, honest and discerning.

Is it safe to conclude that Ryan believes that all three – religion, reason and science – declare the same thing? Is it reasonable to say they all declare that life begins at conception and thus needs to be regarded, protected and nurtured from that first point and forward?

Editor’s Note: Paul Ryan is not the only one. The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons has taken a consistent pro-life position since its founding.

The real war on women – in Muslim countries

The majority of Americans that are now pro-life are women thanks to dozens of organizations like One Million Moms and others. But women who have decided to ignore the cry seem at ease or at least mostly silent about both abortion and abuse of women and children. This is reflected repeatedly in the silence that follows reported cases of abuse against women in Muslim countries and here at home.

Mychal Massie, one of the most outspoken journalists in the nation, in an article titled “Muhammad Must Be Okay With This,” asks the question,

Where are the malicious feminists and duplicitous women’s groups that protest women are being treated unfairly because certain private organizations are not open to women? Where are the feminist women’s groups that claim to care about the health of women worldwide?

Yet more scathing, Massie concludes his article with,

As for the liberal women’s groups, the music industry and Hollywood–shut up and go away until you decide to do something that actually matters.

Massie was addressing the media silence and the lack of women’s groups decrying the shooting of a 14 year old girl, on a school bus in Pakistan by members of the Taliban. Malala Yousafzai’s only offense was to advocate for the education of women. Malala’s stand for women’s rights, human rights, should shame those who are carrying the fight for their so called “reproductive rights,” but if the news is any indicator it has only caused them to flash their canines with renewed ferocity.

What do reason and science really say?

Does reason and science actually join with scripture, with religion to declare what liberal women of the day declare? Is it simply the right to decide about, their own bodies? Do molecular biologists and geneticists have anything to say to the theory of “it’s my body?” Apparently they do and so does science’s sister that we still refer to as human reasoning.

An article I wrote titled “The Philosophy of Abortion – Intrinsically Flawed” drew a response from one woman whose sense of reason was well honed. She invoked both science and reason by reminding me and my readers that if we were to check the DNA of any unborn child we would be forced to declare that the child was indeed a separate human being. Mitochondrial DNA proves only that the unborn child came from the mother. The entire DNA makeup of the child is different from that of its mother. In no uncertain terms that means: it is a separate body, with its own DNA, it is not the body of the mother. It is here we begin to see why some people are unafraid to call abortion – murder.

If the child were found alone and deceased after connecting it to its mother by comparing the mitochondrial DNA to the her, no one would say they found the body of the mother, no one – including, law enforcement, religionists, scientist, thinking people and perhaps even other children.

The only exception would be left thinking liberal women, who have declared they are in a war. They seem to forget that they are the only combatants in history who are not actually dying in battle, only their children are!

In this day of perversity, twisted thinking and rampant selfishness no single scripture passage addresses this modern social ague better than this verse from the Great King Solomon. To wit:

There is a way that seems right to a man, (or a woman) but its end is the way of death.  Proverbs 14: 12 NKJV

Except the government should not have the right to infringe on a Doctor-patient decision. Banning abortion will not prevent it from happening, so we might as well make sure it can be done safely.

Terry A. Hurlbut

Shall we legalize murder, say in cases of long-standing personal grudges, because it’s going to happen anyway? I don’t think you understand what abortion really is. There’s another life to consider. Now you might find that inconvenient on occasion, but it’s still a human life we’re talking about.

Fergus Mason

Bringing back gladiatorial games would be a better solution, I would think. If two people have that much of a grudge they can fight it out in the arena, with the winner taking a percentage of the ticket money. A career as a gladiator could also be offered as an alternative to execution (in the USA) or life imprisonment for serious criminals; if they survive, say, ten bouts they get their freedom. The self-discipline and training required to prepare for fights, as well as the prospect of a lucrative career if they choose to stay in the arena, might even be a more effective form of rehabilitation than the current prison system.
