New Jersey primaries: political sham?
What does it mean to be Republican in New Jersey? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
NJ holds a place of dishonor in the Republican Party as the only state in the nation that has not adopted the Republican Platform. Some voting Republican in NJ believe their candidates are bona fide Conservatives. Others often begrudgingly cast their vote for the lesser of two evils.
A friend once said, “The problem with voting for the lesser of two evils is that you still get evil.” The truth is that in NJ, the Republican Platform is whatever the Governor says it is. The good news is that we may be able to change this – and it all starts with the primaries.
Subversion of New Jersey primaries
In the past I believed that primaries were the place where the cream of the crop rose to the top. Theoretically, the primaries are a place where people vote for the person they believe to will best represent their interests. Unfortunately, the Republican Party has discovered that it can protect its power base by controlling the primaries, thus turning the primaries into a political shami. How does it do this? It does it by effectively slandering those who run against their “yes men” – and it has the power and the money to do this effectively. The opponents, on the other hand, must rely on private donations and grassroots efforts to combat the well-funded and organized campaigns that the “Party” supports. Worse yet, the establishment has access to all the Conservative/Republican email lists in the state.
This is truly a David and Goliath situation. This Goliath knows that the primaries are the best place to silence the voice of any newcomer; it is cost effective and does not allow any free-thinker to gain name recognition to build a power base of any significant degree.
As a result of party politics, New Jersey finds itself voting for self-proclaimed moderates that are mediocre at best – people who think reaching across the aisle and compromising are admirable traits. They don’t understand that these are us just excuses for lack of leadership, resulting in legislation that is so watered-down that it’s not worth the paper it’s printed on.
How do we change this?

We throw their expensive glossy promotions into the garbage where they belong, we close our eyes to their well-funded commercials and professional photographs, and we close our ears to their slick political speak – but most of all – we vote in every primary for the very person(s) the establishment is running against – starting with the State Committees, who can potentially change the system. If a good alternative to the establishment is not running, writing in someone like Mickey Mouse would be a good way to let your objections be known.
We the People can take back our government and restore sanity to the political system, but we have to do it one election at a time – starting on June 4th. Speak up now and make your voices heard – or be part of continuing the status quo.
Below are some of the patriots brave enough to throw stones at Goliath. Please do whatever you can to support them, including go out to the polls and voting on June 4th – and while you’re at it, bring along a few friends.

i Throughout this article I have been referencing the Republican Party and not the Democrat Party, only because I do not have any experience with the Democrat Party and cannot speak intelligently about their primary operations. Do not interpret this as meaning that the Democrat Party does not employ the same tactics.
