Two-party illusion
Conservative Republicans were appalled when Speaker of the House John Boehner and his crew of RINOs passed a budget that provided Barack Obama with all the funds needed to enact his unconstitutional atrocities; otherwise known as amnesty and Obamacare. Boehner, along with other House RINOs, continues to act in a manner at odds with the wishes of Republican voters. If it weren’t for the “R” after his name, you might think he was a member of the Democratic Party. This peculiar mode of operation has fueled rumors of blackmail being perpetrated against the Speaker, which are consistent with a man being coerced into acting in a manner adverse to his Party’s platform and the wishes of his constituents. However, logic would demand that if the rumors were true and Boehner held a modicum of loyalty for America, he would have most assuredly resigned from this powerful position post haste. Boehner did no such thing.
So, the question now arises: are the actions of Boehner’s Band of RINOs simply inconsistent with the American voter or is there something more subversive going on?
Communist goals
In January of 1963, a list of alleged communist goals was read into the Congressional Record by U.S. Congressman Albert S. Herlong, Jr. of Florida. Goal #15 reads: Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States. The intention of the Communists to accomplish a well-hidden coup de’ tat was to infiltrate our two-party system and own both parties – all the while having the people believe they actually had a choice. Of course there are admirably some Republicans, such as my own representative from N.J., Scott Garrett, who have refused to fall into step with the Party’s betrayal of America. Unfortunately, legislators of this caliber are few and far between.
Whether the Republican Party has been taken over by the Commies, or if its leaders have been blackmailed, or if they are just out of touch with reality, the end results remain the same. The two-party system in America is just an illusion. And the old excuse for voting for the two lesser is necessary because if you don’t you are voting for the greater of two evils no longer applies. Either way the choice is the same – you are still getting evil.
How to beat the two-party machine
This begs the question: what do we now do? To my regret, there is no easy or sure fire answer to this question, but one solution may be to impose term limits upon the rascals. Terms limits of 6 years for those in the House and 12 for those in the Senate would sweep our legislature clean of many of our career politicians who have either lost contact with the real world or believe they are somehow above it. Of course it is reasonable to assume that they will not go quietly into that good night. So, perhaps the best way to begin the process is simply to expose the insanity and backstabbing for what it is through entities like the one you are reading now. Some believe another way may be to support an Article V Convention of the States. Thanks to Mark Levin and his book the Liberty Amendments, this issue has gained national attention. There are, however, many expressed concerns about such a Convention – especially since the Constitution has never been amended in this fashion. The primary concern is the fear that it will lead to a Constitutional Convention where our entire Constitution is place at risk. The defense of this argument is that this can be avoided if the Convention petitions by the States limit their issue to one: term limits for Congress. To be sure, there is a risk but is the risk worth the possible restoration of America? Perhaps a more profound question might be: in reality, do we have a Constitution to risk if it has been relegated to the dust bins of history and our government and most of our elected officials ignore it at will?
Amending the Constitution without Congress
[ezadsense midpost]
As we have found to be the case in many undesirable situations, our Founders had the foresight to envision the worst of human behavior in government since they had personally experienced it. Part of their foresight included a time when our nation’s survival might rest on whether or not the states could circumvent a corrupt Congress and amend the Constitution by an alternate means and so they provided for that possibility in Article V of the Constitution. They provided for this by incorporating a very simple word in the Article: “or.” This section on how to amend the Constitution first provides for the method used by Congress throughout our history. But the “or” section reads as follows:
…or by a Convention in three fourths thereof (referring to the previous mention of three fourths ratification by the States)…
For a more detailed analysis of the pros and cons of this argument, I suggest you read the pros, which are best represented by Michael Farris of Parental Rights.org, Mark Levin in his latest book The Liberty Amendments, and The Goldwater Institute. For the cons, I recommend reading the analysis by Eagle Forum and The John Birch Society, two very passionate voices against an Article V Convention.
Regardless of whether or not an Article V Convention is a viable means to ending the insanity of an unconstitutional government, it will not be the Republican Party or the Democratic Party that will save America. It will be committed patriots who are listening to the call of God that will prevail. Whether it is the Commies, the failed Republican Party, the uninformed voter, or the Kum ba yah crowd that destroyed America, they cannot prevail against a people who listen to the voice of God. So, I say let’s give Speaker Boehner something to cry about. It’s high time we stop thinking that simply because someone has an “R” after their name that they support the Republican platform and conservative values. As we saw recently, we can’t blame this mess solely on the Democrats. The Republicans may appear to be a little bit better, but appearances are deceiving. Their fruits tell us that the great majority of them, including Speaker Boehner, are at best enablers of America’s enemies. My fellow citizens, once again I have to say, it’s time to throw the bums out. Our future and the future of our children and their children depend upon it. In order to find the most effective means of doing that, we all need to listen to that small voice of God whispering in our ear and go where He is leading us. The task may be too enormous for us to undertake, but it is not too great a task for our God who created the universe.
