Former Trump aide says GOP fears a Michelle Obama presidential run in 2024

A former aide to ex-president Donald Trump said at the Conservative Political Action Conference this weekend that Republicans are fearful that the Democrats may put Michelle Obama in the running for president in 2024.

Former Treasury spokeswoman under the Trump administration Monica Crowley spoke to a crowd at CPAC this weekend, saying a Michelle Obama run would put Republicans “in a very difficult position” because the former First Lady is “completely plausible, very popular, and immune to criticism.”

Crowley’s main focus was another Trump run in 2024, and she weighed Republicans’ chances against Mrs. Obama, who is wildly popular among Democrats.

“…When you think about her positioning, she [was a Democratic convention] keynote speaker in 2020, she wrote her autobiography [Becoming, a bestseller] and did a 50-city tour, she has massive Netflix and Spotify deals, and she’s got a voting rights group alongside [the Georgia politician and campaigner] Stacey Abrams,” Crowley pointed out.

Michelle Obama has no plans to run for office, according to public remarks in which she has ruled out politics in her future.
