Police say group of teens harassed and killed elderly man because they ‘thought it was fun’
A group of teenagers allegedly harassed and shot an elderly man to death Monday in Houston because they thought it was fun, local police have confirmed.
According to police, four teenagers saw the elderly man walking with his cane and a suitcase. The teenagers started harassing the man for what they saw as fun. The elderly man swung his cane, in an attempt to fend off the teenagers.
Komo News tweeted: “Two teenage girls tried to convince the other two boys to stop and leave. As the four were leaving, one of the boys stopped, turned around and shot at the victim.”
Police are searching for the suspect involved in the shooting and say that they might be able to identify the teen responsible.
The elderly man was taken to the hospital, where he died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Houston Police said they are not sure of the motive at this time as the man was not robbed. They are continuing review footage from the area and have asked anyone with any information in relation to the crime to call Crime Stoppers.
