Justin Trudeau will make ‘herstory’ as the first world leader to appear on tv’s Drag Race
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was announced this week as the first world leader ever to appear on the hit television franchise Canada’s Drag Race, teasing an appearance by the PM in the upcoming spinoff, Canada v. The World.
Canada’s Drag Race Tweeted on Tuesday that Trudeau will make “herstory” when he appears on the show, which premiers on November 18. No details were given as to Trudeau’s specific role in the show, though a video trailer clip showed the PM on the show wearing a shirt and tie, greeting some of the contestants backstage.
The premise of the show is a competition between drag queens in a variety of categories, including performance, character, costume and makeup, and other talents.
The original show is US-based, but has been picked up all over the world, including franchises in Australia, the United Kingdom, the Philippines and more.
It is unclear exactly which episode of the upcoming season will feature Trudeau, but the season airs on November 18 either streaming on WOW Presents Plus or on Crave in Canada.
United States House Speaker Nancy Pelosi previously appeared on the US version of the show earlier this year, and US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was on the show in 2020 as a guest judge.
