Mike Pence destroys self in Tucker Carlson interview
Former Vice-President Mike Pence destroyed his Presidential campaign and career by expressing indifference to Americans’ suffering.
Former Vice-President Mike Pence shocked the audience at the Family Leadership Summit in Des Moines, Iowa, on July 14. He showed blatant indifference to the suffering of American citizens, and far more concern for the Donbass War in Ukraine. Now many influencers assert that he has ruined his political career.
Mike Pence lays an egg
Mike Pence took part in the Family Leadership Summit – where Tucker Carlson played host. He was one of four interview subjects; the other three were former Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R-Ark.), Gov. Nikki Haley (R-S.C.), and Republican Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. Carlson’s staff dropped this thread during his appearance there:
Blaze Media carried the entire seven-and-three-quarter-hour show and embedded it on Twitter:
But Mike Pence got all the attention – of the wrong kind – in his interview with Carlson, according to The Western Journal. In an oft-quoted segment, Pence held forth on the “interest of the United States of America” to support Ukraine. The crowd cried, “Boo!” Undeterred, Pence cited delays in the provision of weapons (chiefly Abrams tanks), ammunition, and pilot training for members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They have been fighting a war with Russia, and their recent counteroffensive has stalled. Recently Carlson has said Ukraine has negated any rationale for American support of their war effort.
Carlson interrupted him and scathingly asked him why he showed such concern about Ukraine, when Americans were suffering.
And Mike Pence, then and there, said, “That’s not my concern.” And he said it, not once, but twice.
Well, it’s not my concern. Tucker, I’ve heard that routine from you before. But that’s not my concern. I’m running for president in the United States, because I think this country is in a lot of trouble. I think Joe Biden has weakened America at home and abroad. And as President of the United States, we’re going to restore law and order in our cities. We’re going to secure our border, we’re going to get this economy moving again. And we’re going to make sure that we have men and women on our courts at every level that will stand for the right to life and defend all the God-given liberties enshrined in our Constitution.
Nor was Pence finished. He seemed either not to care about religious persecution in Ukraine, or to believe it was not taking place. Carlson begged to differ.
Scathing reaction
Mike Pence also repeated the standard line about the January 6 Event – though he excoriated the January 6 Committee for failing to set forth the facts in a way the people could believe.
Jack Posobiec at Human Events excoriated Mike Pence in his podcast later that day.
