Garland protecting Hunter Biden from Trump – congressman
Attorney General Merrick Garland is protecting Hunter biden from future prosecution by a returning Donald Trump, a Democrat admitted.
Attorney General Merrick Garland is trying to protect Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, from prosecution by a future Justice Department under a returning Donald J. Trump. A liberal Democrat (and former Trump impeachment floor manager) avowed this to Jake Tapper, a regular at CNN.
Garland and his protective role
Tapper interviewed Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) on CNN’s State of the Union program yesterday morning (August 12). The two discussed the original plea bargain that fell apart when a judge questioned its wisdom in open court. Kristinn Taylor at The Gateway Pundit excerpted a transcript of the interview.
They also discussed Garland’s decision to appoint David Weiss, U.S. Attorney for Delawar, as a Special Counsel.
Goldman laid heavy emphasis on David Weiss owing his appointment as a United States Attorney to President Trump. He also offered an explanation for the special-counsel designation. If Weiss had to charge Hunter Biden for offenses outside of Delaware, he would need additional authority.
Then Goldman addressed the text of the plea bargain, which granted immunity for conduct not charged. The agreement read in relevant part:
The United States agrees not to criminally prosecute Biden, outside of the terms of this Agreement, for any federal crimes encompassed by the attached Statement of Facts (Attachment A) and the Statement of Facts attached as Exhibit 1 to the Memorandum of Plea Agreement filed this same day. This Agreement does not provide any protection against prosecution for any future conduct by Biden or by any of his affiliated businesses.
Goldman admitted this was unusual, but said this was no ordinary case. The problem, as he saw it, is that neither young Biden nor Garland could be sure that a later Attorney General would not charge young Biden if he could. In the interview, Goldman called Trump “a petty, vindictive bully” and spoke of “weaponization” of the Justice Department. Goldman even blamed that possibility for the collapse of the plea deal.
Oh, the irony…
Evidently Goldman has no sense of irony. Weaponization of the Justice Department is exactly what Trump himself, and several Republican officeholders, have lately charged. We also know how vindictive Joe Biden is. Nearly two years ago he determined that Trump must be prosecuted, as “a threat to democracy.”
Nor does Goldman understand what he just admitted: that Trump is very likely to win back the Presidency.
