Unprofessional conduct

Government officials, military officers, doctors, and teachers are behaving in an unprofessional manner after the election of Donald Trump.

Now that Donald Trump has won reelection, many, perhaps hundreds, of professional figures are displaying unprofessional conduct. Some of this was happening in the months before the election. After it, the raft of unprofessional statements and behaviors has only gotten worse. In fact, supporters of Vice-President Kamala Harris are now the worst sore losers since Al Gore’s supporters in 2000. And only alternative media organs are willing even to talk about it.

Current results

The Daily Wire Election Hub, at time of posting, shows the same set of yet-to-decide House and Senate races. Both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris have added to their vote totals over the weekend. Trump leads Harris in the popular vote by about 3.5 million votes, and has well exceeded his 2020 vote. But neither candidate comes close to Biden’s 81.2 million nominal votes in 2020. So for now, that result still looks spurious, and vote-by-mail fraud in 2020 remains the preferable explanation.

Decision Desk called the Arizona Senate race for Democrat Ruben Gallego yesterday. But Republican former television news personality Kari Lake refuses to concede. Pima, Yuma, and Cochise Counties in Arizona all report malfunctions by their electronic voting machines. They also are adding to the total ballots outstanding, without explanation. The ACLU petitioned the Arizona Supreme Court to extend time for “ballot curing,” but the Court denied this.

In Pennsylvania, Dale McCormick has about 39,600 more votes than Sen. Robert Casey (D-Pa.), but Casey refuses to concede. In fact, Marc Elias finally surfaced, deploying his legal associates throughout Pennsylvania, trying to swing that Senate race.

Jack Posobiec: “Marc Elias has deployed teams of lawyers throughout Pennsylvania … They’re trying to subvert David McCormick’s victory.”

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), current Majority Floor Leader, has barred McCormick from attending Senate freshman orientation classes.

Decision Desk hasn’t called the Pennsylvania race, but the Associated Press has – for McCormick.

In the House, Decision Desk hasn’t updated its totals. But yesterday Rep. Yadira Caraveo (D-Colo.) conceded to challenger Gabe Evans in Colorado’s Eighth District. Republicans have 217 seats, with nine decisions left.

Unprofessional conduct in government…

The “guidance” by a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) supervisor to avoid homes in a disaster area with Trump signs, dominates the alternative-media headlines today. The Daily Wire first reported on internal messages showing that Supervisor Marn’i Washington had issued such guidance. Employees brazenly – or in protest – logged their avoidance as they made their rounds. The internal messages do record vociferous protest at the idea of withholding aid from anyone for political reasons. In fact the very delivery of those messages to The Daily Wire was an act of protest.

AsThe Daily Wire andCNN both reported, Marn’i Washington has lost her job. But that does not satisfy some of Congress’ most outspoken Republican members. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) expressed open fear that FEMA teams passed over some of her constituents. Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) wants FEMA disconnected from the Department of Homeland Security, reporting directly to the White House instead. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.) sent a letter to SecHomeSec Alejandro Mayorkas and FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell, demanding answers. And Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) asked for an Inspector General’s investigation.

FEMA officials discriminated against Trump voters? Totally illegal. I’m asking the Inspector General to launch a full investigation immediately. Everyone involved needs to be identified, fired – and if necessary, prosecuted. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.)

Worse than those reports, are reports like this from CNN. “Top military brass” are discussing how to circumvent certain kinds of Presidential orders. At issue would be orders to:

  • Deploy troops to quell domestic violence at State government request, per Article IV Section 4, or
  • “Fire large swaths of apolitical” Pentagon employees.

The latter probably refers to how Trump’s proposed “Schedule F” would affect the Pentagon.

… and out

Erick-Woods Erickson, who normally doesn’t lend credence to such stories, was apoplectic this morning as he considered this news. “Day One: Fire Them All!” screamed his headline to express his astonishment and outrage. He blamed it on incompetence more than ill will, but his prescription was the same: “purge the bureaucracy.”

Outside of government, one expects legacy media to scream and even cry about the results. But the Chief Resident in Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine broke every rule of professional conduct last Friday. Dr. Amanda Calhoun appeared on Joy(less) Reid’s MSNBC show, The Reid Out, according to The Daily Wire. There she urged people upset with Trump’s win to avoid their relatives who voted for Trump in the upcoming holidays.

People are concerned about their human rights, their existence, their safety. And I think you know when we’re talking about people who are worried about, you know, getting gender affirming care. We’re talking about people who are worried about being able to get access to women’s health care, to, you know, life saving procedures to abortions.

That has a very, very devastating downstream effect on one’s mental health. And when, you know, as a psychiatrist, the child psychiatrist, but I also work with adults, we also see a lot of children who are born to parents who are struggling. They might have mental health issues, and those children sometimes develop very severe behavioral problems, suicidality, and I have a lot of concerns about the support that those kids are going to have going forward.

And:

I think there’s a societal norm that if somebody is your family, that they are entitled to your time. And I think the answer is absolutely not. So if you are going through a situation where you have family members or you have close friends who you know have voted in ways that are against you, that are against your livelihood, then it’s completely fine to not be around those people, and to tell them why.. say, “I have a problem with the way that you voted because it went against my very livelihood, and I’m not going to be around you this holiday, I need to take some space for me.” Amanda Calhoun, M.D.

Evidently she’s talking about Alphabet Soup adherents – and surgeons and internists who practice surgical mutilation and hormonal poisoning. But that the attending/teaching doctors in the Psychiatry Department cleared Dr. Calhoun even to appear on that program, strains credulity. Worse, she is also a fellow in child psychiatry. How her regimen will affect children, one shudders to imagine.

Teachers preach anti-Trump politics to their students

Over the weekend, two reports came in of high-school teachers sharing leftist politics with students in wildly inappropriate ways. The Talawanda School District in Oxford, Ohio, placed an unnamed female teacher on administrative leave. She had filmed an anti-Trump rant on school property and might have used school equipment to do it.

In the Moreno Valley (California) Unified School District, Advanced Placement World History teacher Maximiliano Perez ranted and raved at his students – in class – about the election results. One of his students recorded his remarks:

This sh-t is not a f—ing game. Does that make sense, everybody? Can’t emphasize this enough. Can you end up in a concentration camp in your lifetime? Yes. Can you end up with no human rights? Yes. Will it happen to you? Most likely not, which is a good thing. But has Donald Trump quoted Hitler? Yes. Yes. Does he embody some of Hitler’s ideas? Yes. Donald Trump won because we have low voter turnout. People didn’t want to vote. Maximiliano Perez

This has become a definite embarrassment to the district. Corey DeAngelis, senior fellow at the American Culture Project, obtained the four-minute-seventeen-second recording. He shared it in a nine-post X thread in addition to making the Rumble video above. Then he tacked on eight more posts describing further evidence he obtained. That evidence began with this letter from the principal of Valley View High School:

It was brought to the administration’s attention that during class yesterday, the topic of the election results surfaced and became heated. We want to thank those that came forward to express their concerns as we strive to create a strong and welcoming environment for all. While we expect conversations regarding politics and political viewpoints to be discussed in an AP World History class, we also expect it to remain respectful. We do not condone the behavior that was exhibited in class yesterday and we thank those that brought it to our attention so we could address the issue.

We are fortunate to live in a diverse area with differing viewpoints and beliefs. I believe that is what makes, not only Valley View High School and our community special, but our nation as well.

As educators, we understand that we hold a unique and influential role in guiding students on a journey of discovery.

We aim to provide a balanced environment where all students feel safe to ask questions, research from reputable sources, engage in respectful dialogue, and ultimately form their own beliefs. Chris Gilliatt, Principal, Valley View High School

And finally:

Dear Moreno Valley School District Families,

We were recently made aware of an incident at one of our high schools, in which a staff member’s discussion about the election results turned unprofessional. We do not condone the behavior that occurred, and an immediate investigation has been launched. The staff member involved has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of this review.

We recognize the heightened emotions surrounding the current political climate, and we deeply value the diversity of our community, which encompasses a wide range of perspectives and beliefs. Our goal is to foster a respectful and inclusive learning environment that supports all students.

We appreciate those who came forward to share their concerns and inform us of the situation. By working together, we can continue to cultivate a positive and supportive educational experience for all students in our Moreno Valley Unified School District. Alex Sponheim, spokesman, Moreno Valley USD Administration

That’s all very well. But only because some students were brave – or incensed – enough to report Mr. Perez, did this incident come to light. The contents of his rant call into question not only his competency but also his subject-matter expertise. Everything he accused Trump of wishing to do, his own side had doubtless planned. Furthermore, 146 million votes is not “low” – and Trump received 1.1 million more votes this time than last.

Summary

Again, we see federal officers (civilian and military), at least one medical professional, and educators engaging in unprofessional conduct. In fact these have been the most serious breaches of codes of professional conduct in recent memory. This represents either an appalling loosening of professional standards, or a series of psychological warfare operations.

Republicans must capture the House of Representatives, so that they can investigate the government incidents properly. This will include the House Committees on Oversight (FEMA, etc.) and the Armed Services (the Pentagon whispers).

Yale University School of Medicine has its own problems. Three and a half years ago a dangerous paranoiac gave Grand Rounds to Psychiatry Department attending and house staff, externs, and clinical clerks. CNAV protested that appalling incident directly to Dr. Peter Salovey, then the President of Yale. Obviously neither the medical school nor the university learned any lessons from this. Not if that department would appoint a Chief Resident who would break professional ethics as Dr. Calhoun did.

In short, the election of Donald J. Trump has brought out the worst in many people whom others expected to conform to professional standards. One can only wonder whether professional standards in America will continue to deteriorate.
