AOC hears voters call her coward

On October 23, AOC gave a town hall where two of her voters called her a coward for failing to buck the Party on Ukraine.

“Coward!” That’s what two constituents called Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.-14th) on Wednesday (October 12) at a live Town Hall event. AOC, as most people call her, called the Town Hall to celebrate “Legislative Victories and Opportunities for Constituents.” But not only did this event draw the lightest crowd for venue size of any Democratic campaign event in recent memory (and that’s saying a lot), but also – and much more serious – the few constituents who did show up, heckled her in a display worthy of a political comedy.

AOC calls a Town Hall

Reportage on this campaign disaster comes from The Gateway Pundit, The Western Journal, The Blaze,The Maine Wire, Liberty Bugle, Biz Pac Review, and Independent Journal Review. An Internet engine search at 5:00 p.m. EDT Thursday (October 13) disclosed no legacy media interest apart from Fox News.

The full meeting took an hour and forty-five minutes:

This video has the camera only on AOC. Other video, not on AOC’s channel, shows the very sparse attendance. The Liberty Bugle channel estimated the attendance at twenty or thirty.

Tellingly, someone brought in a campaign poster for her Republican challenger, Tina Forte.

We’ve had enough. #OUSTAOC. Vote for Tina Forte.

AOC ignored the banner, and that’s also telling. Why didn’t anyone even raise a voice to ask the one carrying that poster to leave? Instead, no one paid that banner one bit of attention. AOC continued to deliver her prepared speech, in a drone that might have put people to sleep.

But forty-nine minutes into the presentation, the meeting turned Ugly.

Like how ugly?

Two activists, each identifying himself as a former supporter of AOC, stood up and shouted her down. In the middle of her presentation of legislative victories, one man shouts:

Congresswoman! None of this matters [if] there’s a nuclear war, which you voted to send arms and weapons to Ukraine! Tulsi Gabbard [has] left the Democratic Party. Because they are war hawks!

At that point another man points to the first speaker and shouts, “He’s right,” or something of the kind. The first heckler goes on:

OK! You originally voted – you ran as an outsider. Yet you’ve been voting to start this war in Ukraine. You’re voting to start a third nuclear war with Russia and China. Why are you playing with the lives of American citizens? You’re playing with our lives.

No neighbors after a nuke

And then the second (“He’s right!”) speaker stands up to put in his own two cents:

There will be no neighbors if there’s a nuclear bomb! You voted to mobilize and send money to Ukrainian Nazis. You’re a coward! You’re a progressive socialist? Where are you against the war mobilization? He’s telling the right truth! You have done nothing! Tulsi Gabbard has shown guts, where you’ve shown cowardice! I believed in you, and you became the very thing you sought to fight against! That’s what you’ve become! You are the establishment, and you are the reason why everybody will end up in a nuclear war, unless you choose to stand up right now and denounce the Democratic Party. Will you do that?

At this juncture he draws a smattering of applause from the “twenty or thirty” attendees. Emboldened, he continues:

Yes or no?

And the whole time this is happening, AOC stands where she is, microphone in hand, on her left foot while she crooks her right knee to rest her right foot. She then asks something unintelligible, and the second heckler says,

Yes. Simple. Are you going to stop nuclear war? Yes or no?

Then in response to something else she says, he shouts back:

There is no line. Because this is …

Here he utters a barnyard term. Then he continues:

None of this matters if we’re all dead. None of it! You know that!

AOC, what did you come here for?

That, as far as CNAV can determine while reviewing both videos, is when AOC actually says she did not come to that meeting to take up a question like that. So he says,

Then let’s take it up right now, because this is the only thing that matters. This is the only thing that matters right now. We could be in a nuclear war at any minute, and you continue to fund it. That’s what’s going on.

Again she protests that they could take the matter up another time, which does not satisfy him:

Why not right now?

Then she says something plainly insulting, so he says:

You’re the liar here. Nobody has [held] you accountable. That’s what’s happening. And it is time for you to stand up and realize that what you’ve been saying has been lies. Let your conscience come through for once.

And that’s when an event organizer – meaning a marshal – moves in to show him the door.

After which the event continues, with AOC delivering the rest of her prepared remarks in that same soporific drone. As if nothing had happened!

Revealing her cluelessness – or arrogance

Three years ago, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Speaker of the House, quipped that a water glass, labeled D, could win in AOC’s district.

Now, to paraphrase The Western Journal, novelty has given way to disgust. That explains the very sparse attendance. But it does not explain the abject, animal fear those two activists expressed. That is something new.

And it does come honestly. AOC did vote for every Ukraine aid package the Congress has taken up.

This, while Vladimir Putin asks his fellow Russians whether they want American “woke” values in their country – and answers, Nyet! And people in this country remember that Putin commands an arsenal of nuclear warheads second to none. Furthermore he can deliver them at five or six times the speed of sound – which means virtually silently. And, thanks to coronavirus and the vaccine, the American military is vastly understrength. So is the Chinese military, for that matter, and for the same reason. But the Russian Army, Navy, Naval Infantry (“Marines”), and Air Force didn’t take the vaccine. So, effective for effective, theirs is the most powerful military in the world.

That’s the bear whom AOC is pleased to poke. Now her constituents are afraid. They not only want her to cease and desist; they demand that she tell this White House to cease and desist.

Historical perspective

As Tulsi Gabbard observed, the Democratic Party was the anti-war party – when Russia called herself “Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.” Now they are the pro-war party, again as Gabbard observes (and as Donald J. Trump observes, too). AOC has a problem: her constituents know it. They also know that Vladimir Putin just possibly has a hypersonic missile labeled Novaya York or some such thing. Perhaps they remember the ending of the movie Fail-Safe, when President Henry Fonda orders General Dan O’Herlihy to drop two nuclear bombs on New York to appease the Russians, after a rogue American jet bomber takes out Moscow.

Or Dr. Strangelove, in which Peter Sellers actually says,

Mein Führer! I can walk!

And then hundreds of 100-megaton bombs, with cobalt and thorium alloy jackets, detonate to the strains of “We’ll Meet Again.”

Under the circumstances, no one can blame those two activists for questioning the consistency, if not the sanity, of their Representative in Congress. (Or whether she’s representing anyone in “her” district.)Clearly they know that government largesse and “New Monetary Theory” mean nothing in the face of nuclear war. To them, Republicans like Tina Forte must reach out, and right now, with Midterms coming up.
