Obama v. a Muslim: what would they do?
The concerning behavior of Barack Obama has been a topic of discussion among Conservatives ever since his bid for the presidency in 2008. Some would even go as far as comparing him to the main character in the novel, The Manchurian Candidate, which was later adapted into a feature film in 1962 and updated in 2004. In the storyline, the main character is brainwashed through hypnosis into becoming a political assassin for the Communist party and has no recollection of his dastardly acts.
Obama is not Raymond Shaw. He’s worse.
Of course, the mysterious life of the fictional character is fascinating but other than that, it bears little resemblance to the real Barack Obama, who seems to know exactly what he is or is not doing. After all, we are repeatedly told how brilliant he is. There are, however, reasons to question Mr. Obama’s loyalties to this country. His background and upbringing do little to allay these suspicions, and all discussions regarding his loyalties can easily become heated. Still, such discussions are both legitimate and necessary for someone who is running for the position of President of the United States of America.
There are several legitimate factors that fanned the flames of doubt concerning the man now occupying the White House. Some of the suspicions arose before he was elected when videos of his 20-year spiritual leader, Jeremiah Wright, were publicized. Any patriotic American would have been hard-pressed to endure one year under Wright’s spiritual guidance, but Obama endured 20 years – and proudly so. Then there was his relationship with Bill Ayers and the mystery surrounding his birth certificate and his college transcripts, but all these things were explained away. So, before another election cycle passes through the sands of time, let’s try to take an impartial look at Mr. Obama in a more scientific way. The chart below may help to put things into perspective.

“Did not observe the National Day of Prayer and did observe Ramadan.”
Oh, so Obama fasted for a month, did he?
Now that you mention it, that was quite the hypocritical oversight on his part. He definitely recognized Ramadan. Whether he fasted or not, no man outside the White House can or will say.
“He definitely recognized Ramadan.”
So what? He recognises christmas and easter too. In fact so do I; recognising a religious festival does not mean that you follow that religion. It’s a fairly basic element of showing respect for others. That’s not why I do it; I just like the celebrations. I’ve celebrated Eid al-Fitr as well, although naturally I didn’t bother to fast first.
But he canceled the National Day of Prayer in that same context. That’s what makes it reprehensible.
And Christmas and Resurrection Day are national holidays, according to our law. Ramadan is not. So far.
“But he canceled the National Day of Prayer”
No he didn’t.
He might as well have done. A lot of cities did cancel because he never proclaimed it.

Yes he did. Here: link to whitehouse.gov
Just like he did in 2011:

And 2010:

And 2009:

Your issue seems to be that he didn’t hold an event in the White House to mark the occasion. Guess what? In the last 32 years there have been exactly ten Presidential events to mark the National Day of Prayer, eight of which were held by GW Bush. I don’t see you criticising Reagan or Bush I for not marking the day.
